Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Secretary Mr. Mahinda S. Weerasuriya led a discussion on the basic facts and implementation of the volleyball development project in Kegalle District for the year 2023/2024 organized by Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and Kegalle District Secretariat yesterday (15) at the district secretariat.

Accordingly, in 2023, the focus was on the continuation of the associations of the volleyball players who represented the Sabaragamuwa province, and the promotion of a volleyball training center in association with Kegalu Girls and Kegalu College.

With the aim of popularizing the game of volleyball among school children and government institutions, it was also discussed about holding the Kegalu Volleyball Festival, open volleyball tournament, amateur volleyball tournament, volleyball tournament among government institutions, and senior volleyball tournament.

Attention was also paid to the development of the attitude and skills of volleyball coaches, and for that purpose training camps and umpiring courses were also paid attention to.

For this occasion, Kegalle District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, Provincial Education Ministry Secretary B. A. C. P. Bamunu Arachchi, Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha, Provincial Sports Director W. Chaturangika Premaratne, District Welfare Director, Assistant District Secretary, Regional Education Directors, Principals, District Sports Officer, District Sports Department officials and others participated in this event.
