A technical training program on hand-made tea with added value aimed at the export market was held this morning (07) under the chairmanship of the District Secretary/District Secretary Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe in the auditorium of the District Secretariat.

A series of programs are being implemented with the aim of training 10 lakh entrepreneurs and creating two lakh entrepreneurs through the Get up start up for wealthy nation concept of the Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board to help Sri Lanka move towards an export-oriented economic development.

This program was held as the first training workshop in the district, which was conducted as the 75th program of Kegalle district with theoretical and practical training on hand-made tea.

In today's workshop, knowledge was given about the production process of Blooming tea, silvertip tea, white tea, oolong tea, herbal tea.

Resource contribution for this was provided by Mr. Chamandra Munasinghe, Research Officer of the Tea Research Institute and Mrs. Lakshika Nilwala, an entrepreneur of a private firm in the tea industry.

The Kegalle District Office of Ceylon Industrial Development Board had organized this program.

Additional District Secretary (Lands) Gamalatge Dilip Nishantha, Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board Sabaragamuwa Provincial Director Mr. S. A. G. Senanayake, government officials, entrepreneurs and others attended the event.
