On the occasion of the World Children's Day on October 1st, a play was organized for the children of Didula Pre-school affiliated to the Welfare Association of the District Secretariat as a presentation by the officials of the District Secretariat today (02) at the same premises.
The District Children's Committee regularly reports problematic situations regarding child abuse, drug use, children's excessive phone addiction, increased mental stress in children, nutritional and health deficiencies. This drama exhibition can be pointed out as another innovative attempt to use such drama scenes as a practical communication tool as a new attempt with aesthetic enjoyment to instill a message not only in the parents, adults, teachers but also in the children about the dangerous situation and how to avoid it.
Its first scene was released today as a play "Pata Pata Kathandare" under the direction of Mr. Suriya Bandara of the Samurdhi Division of the District Secretariat, with the participation of a group of officials from various sections of the office.
Pre-school children, children in primary sections of schools have been identified as the primary target groups for this program and in the future this play will be performed throughout the district. It is also expected that this program will be performed in pre-schools, primary schools as well as public and private institutions, if requested by the respective institutions, addressing the various parties who are prejudiced in the society with the theme of current social issues.
In conjunction with the District Literature Festival on October 27, this play was organized today with the support of the District Culture Officer Mrs. Kanchana Wijeratne and the District Early Childhood Development Officer Mrs. Bhadra Abeywickrama.
District Governor/District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary (Administration) Dinisha S. Rathnayake, Administrative Officer Yamini Ratnayake, officials of the District Secretariat, teachers, children and parents of Didula Preschool were present on that occasion.
