In relation to the scope of the Ministry of Buddha Shasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, the said ministry had decided to hold a meeting of the Honorable Lords of the Kegalle Shasanashaka Force and all officers engaged in field duties on 04.27.2024. It was also further informed that all honorable ministers, honorable councilors and divisional secretaries representing Kegalle district should be informed in this regard. First of all, Minister Vidura Wickramanayake observed the Kegalle Cultural Center and discussed with its officials and related parties. Kegalle district secretary J. M. R. P. Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary K. P. S. Nishantha, Kegalle Divisional Secretary Priyangani Pethangoda, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Taraka Balasuriya, Kegalle District Member of Parliament, District Coordination Committee Co-Chairperson Rajika Wickramasinghe and other officials and related parties of the Kegalle Cultural Center participated.

Secondly, the Minister held a discussion with the Honorary Chairman of Kegalle District Chasanarakshaka Board, Venerable Hemmathagama Siddhartha Nayaka Thero, Honorary Chief Registrar of Chasanarakshaka Board, Honorary Chairman of Regional Chasanarakshaka Boards, Head of Registrars at Wevaladenia Siri Mahindodaya Pirivena. There was a long discussion with the venerable Theros about the issues and problems of Dhamma schools and Dhamma school teachers and the issues and problems mentioned in the memos presented by the head Theros for the perpetuation of the order, and the possible ways to take them in the future.

The sessions to inform the government officials on duty in the historical, cultural and archeologically important fields of Kegalle district related to the scope of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs were started at the district secretariat auditorium. The session started after the District Secretary explained the purpose and was addressed by the Honorable Minister of Buddha Sasana, Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake. There, Director of Cultural Affairs Yasintha Gunawardena, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Tilak Nandana Hettiarachchi, (Promotion), Commissioner General of Buddhist Affairs R. M. P. Ratnayake, Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs, (Daham Schools) Wasantha Liyanage, Commissioner of Buddhist Affairs (Manuwara Office) W. M. it. H. Bandara, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhism H. N. Kumari, Buddhist Affairs Coordinating Officers and Central and Provincial Government Cultural Officers, participated in it. First of all, a discussion was held with all Buddhist affairs coordinators of Kegalle district attached to the Buddhist affairs department of the Ministry of Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and all the development officers of Kegalle district attached to the Hindu, Christian and Muslim religious departments. Kegalle District Secretary J. M. R. P. Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary Mr. Nishantha and Director of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Department Z. A. M. Faisal, Director, Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs Y. Anthurthanan participated in this discussion.

After that, in the discussion held with the Kegalle District Cultural Authority, the Vice President, Secretary of the District Cultural Authority, the Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Committee officers of the Regional Cultural Authority participated. There, the Minister and the artists of the cultural boards discussed the issues and problems they have to face.

In the discussion held with the officials of all the cultural centers in the district, the station in charge officers and assistant station in charge officers of those centers were involved in this. There, the problems of station in-charge officers and other officers were discussed. The Minister who drew attention to these problems agreed to provide solutions in every possible way. In the discussion held with the archeology staff and Director General of Archeology Prof. Thusitha D. Mandis, K. H. L. Flag Guns, Director (Control), E. D. P. Alvis (Chief Accountant), Aruna Bandara, Assistant Director (Planning) Viraj Balasuriya, Regional Assistant Director (Kegalla) A. G. T. Mr. Sanjeevani (Zonal Officer) Puravidya participated in this discussion. The program organized by the Ministry of Buddha Education was attended by all the gentlemen of the district secretariat related to the scope of the related fields.

After the session ended, the Minister did not forget to visit Sella Gurunnanse, a well-known upland dancer of Sri Lanka who is about 95 years old and is currently living in Moronthota Village, Kegalle. Also, this field observation visit was not only praised by all the officials but also a unique opportunity for the Kegalle district for Buddha Sasana, the Honorable Minister of the Ministry of Religious and Cultural Affairs Mr. Vidura Wickramanayake for openly discussing the issues and problems of all the officials engaged in the duties of all the fields.
