The Kegalle District Coordination Committee met today (02) at the District Secretariat Auditorium.

Kegalle District Secretary Mr. J. M. R. P. Jayasinghe's introduction to the district coordination committee, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor and Kegalle District Coordinating Committee Co-Chairman Navin Dissanayake and Kegalle District Co-Chairperson Rajika Wickramasinghe presided over the work of the council.

Although there was a shortage of some officials related to the respective subjects, Minister of Technology Kanaka Herath, Kegalle District Member of Parliament Sujith Sanjay Perera, Udayakantha Gunathilaka joined the meeting representing the political authority.

Here, the District Health Director mentioned that 995 dengue patients have been found in the first quarter of 2024. He further stated that if the environment is not cleaned properly, this may increase in the future. These patients are mostly reported from Warkapola, Ruwanwella and Mawanella divisions. He also said that there will be an increase in rat fever cases from 2020 to 2024 in both Yala and Maha and that 198 cases of rat fever have been reported in the first quarter of this year and more cases are reported from Mawanella and Kegalle Divisions.

At the end of the committee meeting, Sabaragamuwa Provincial Governor Mr. Navin Dissanayake said, "Treasury has informed about the release of money. We hope that these works will be completed in the next few months as we need to do a lot of work that could not be done in the last two or three years. I request the officials who are obliged to serve the people to support the completion of those works with these provisions".
