The Project for the Promotion of Employment Cooperation for Persons with Disabilities (ESPD), which is jointly implemented by the Department of Social Services, the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Department of Manpower and Employment, has been successfully implemented throughout the island.

As the third program implemented in Kegalle district, the awareness of the stakeholders was held today (11) in the morning at Heshani Hotel, Kegalle under the chairmanship of the District Secretary, Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe.

According to this, the people involved in this program, which brought together job seekers with disabilities and institutions where people with disabilities can find employment, was welcomed by the District Social Service Officer Mr. Sarath Ranaweera. The District Human Resource Development Officer Mr. Ranjith Mugunuwela also commented.

Addressing the occasion, Kegalle District Secretary/District Governor Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe stated that it is a very timely action to employ the disabled community. Additional District Secretary (Administration) Mr. K.G.S. Nishantha also expressed his opinion.

Mr. Shimizu Takeshi, the project's expert, and his staff members explained about the Employment Support Promotion Project for Persons with Disabilities (ESPD) as well as the processes currently taking place at the divisional secretariat level throughout the island.

Ms. Darshanee Karunaratne, Director of the Social Services Department, also joined the event through Zoom. The representatives who came to represent the various private institutions explained the facts and at the end of the briefing, a short interview was also held for the disabled.

Kegalle Dehiowita, Ruwanwella, Aranayaka, Mawanella Divisional Secretaries, Galigamuwa Assistant Divisional Secretary, Social Services, Human Resource Officers and Development Officers of the Divisional Secretariats, disabled job seekers and their guardians attended the event.
