According to the idea of ​​President Ranil Wickramasinghe, the Kegalle district program of awarding scholarships to school children who have economic difficulties to continue their education was launched under the leadership of Minister of Plantation Enterprise Reform and Minister of State for Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Resources Ranjith Siyabalapitiya and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Taraka Balasuriya. It was done yesterday (16) at Mawatha.

Under this program, six thousand rupees per month for a period of 2 years will be given to the selected students who passed the G.E.C. Students with economic difficulties selected up to the grade will be entitled to bursary benefits of three thousand rupees each for a period of one year.

Under this scholarship program, 3650 students in Kegalle district will receive scholarships. This bursary system will give strength to the students to make their educational activities more successful and thereby win in the future.

This program was jointly organized by the Kegalle District Secretariat and the Provincial Ministry of Education and the financial support for this was given by the Development Lottery Board.

Along with this program, Siyambalapitiya Jana Sahana Foundation distributed school bags and pomegranate saplings to school children.

On this occasion, North Central Province Governor Mr. Mahipala Herath, Kegalle District Coordinating Committee Co-Chairperson Mr. Rajika Wickramasinghe, political authority and Kegalle District Secretary Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary (Control) K. G.S. Divisional Secretaries of Nishantha Kegalle District, officers of the President's Secretariat, officers of the Development Lottery Board, officers of the Education Region Offices, government officials, principals, teachers, students and parents were present on this occasion.
