The Kegalle District Agriculture Committee meeting was held yesterday (27) at the Kegalle District Secretariat Auditorium under the patronage of Kegalle District Secretary/Government Agent J. M. R. P. Jayasinghe and Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha.

The District Agriculture Committee met as a monthly session under the chairmanship of District Agriculture Director M. S. Thilakasiri. At this meeting, issues and problems related to the District Agriculture Committee were discussed in this committee and simultaneously, the Environment and Land Utilization Committee was also discussed with the participation of the heads of the respective institutions and other officers.

It was decided to inform the Ministry of Agriculture in writing about the letters received by the District Secretariat regarding the damage caused by wild animals, such as "Obtaining permission for a pilot project involving public participation in the control of damage caused by wild animals, abandonment of paddy fields due to damage caused by wild animals", "Coconut fruits lost to the Rila epidemic", "Obtaining information regarding equipment distributed to minimize damage caused by wild animals", and obtaining solutions for damage caused by wild animals".

Representing the 11 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the district, the Divisional Secretaries, the Divisional Irrigation Engineer, the Deputy Director of Agriculture, the Assistant Commissioner of Agrarian Development, the heads of institutions belonging to the agricultural sector, the regional officers of the Agrarian Service Centers belonging to the Divisional Secretariat Divisions and the officers of the District Agriculture Division participated in this event.
