The Kegalle District Student Ambassador Conference related to the Student Ambassador National Program organized by the National Child Protection Authority and the District Secretariat was held at the District Secretariat recently (20).

The main objectives of this district conference, which was represented by a senior student ambassador, a teacher and a parent selected from twenty-three schools, were to educate the student ambassadors to create a child-friendly and safe environment in the school to ensure child safety and to communicate that information to the school.

Accordingly, Dr. Anoma Jayasinghe, a specialist in mental illness, conducted the necessary awareness to resolve the problems of adolescents.

The importance of taking steps to ensure child safety based on the child abuse incidents reported in the district was highlighted at this conference by the OIC of the Kegalle Children and Women's Division Bureau, Ms. Nirosha Mulyagangoda.

This program was jointly organized by District Child Protection Officer Vinodana Kulathunga and District Psychosocial Officer Chathurika Bandara. Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha and a group of others were present at the event.
