A program to Agricultural Development Officers on project management, organized under the full supervision and coordination of Kegalle District Agriculture Director M. S. Thilakasiri, was held on 07 03 2025 at the District Secretariat Auditorium under the patronage of Kegalle Additional District Secretary Dilip Nishantha (Land).

This program was held as a workshop to inform all the officers who had previously worked in the 11 Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the district, who were attached to various ministries and departments, about the fact that they will be engaged in duties as Agricultural Development Officers from 01 04 2025, in coordination with all the institutions belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture, under the supervision of the Divisional Secretaries, on a specific list of duties, and to introduce the scope of each institution and educate them.
The purpose of this was to provide solutions to the existing problems of the Agricultural Development Officers engaged in government work and to educate them about the functions and services performed by the Provincial Department of Agriculture. The invited resource persons for this awareness program were Ms. Nilma Rajapaksa, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Department of Agriculture, Sabaragamuwa Province, Mr. Chandana Premasinghe, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Peradeniya, Gannoruwa, who gave a lecture on project identification and management for agri-entrepreneurs, Mr. Chandana Premasinghe, Director of the Department of Agriculture, Mr. Peradeniya, Gannoruwa, who gave a lecture on the use of communication for project management, Mr. Ajith Gunasekara, Director of the National Agriculture and Information Development Center. Explaining the purpose of this program, Mr. Nishantha, Additional District Secretary, Kegalle, said that the survey on wild animals to be carried out on March 15th from 8.00 a.m. to 8.05 a.m. regarding the gray monkey, rilawa, peacock and dandulena that damage crops should be appreciated for being able to carry out the full supervision, contribution and responsibility of these officers. He explained that the forms received from the Department of Agriculture for this survey have now been distributed to the Divisional Secretariats and that a small number of forms more than the requested amount have been provided to each family.
The Agricultural Development Officers and the officers engaged in the duties of the Agriculture Division of the District Secretariat who participated in the program that day were presented with certificates of appreciation in appreciation of their service. This program, which was attended by the District Agricultural Development Officers and all the officers of the District Agriculture Division, ended as a successful one-day workshop.
