A progress review meeting of the Cultural Officers for the first quarter of this year, which reviews the progress of targeted programs implemented to protect and promote the cultural values of the district, was held at the District Secretariat 01st of March under the patronage of District Secretary / Government Agent Mr.Jagath Herath.
The officers presented the progress of the programs implemented at the respective Divisional Secretariat Division level in relation to the Dolos Mahe Pahana programs.
The District Cultural Officer, Mrs. Kanchana Wijayaratne, and the District Cultural Division had organized this meeting.
Additional District Secretary (Administration) Mrs. Kusum Bandara, cultural officers attached to the Central Government and the Provincial Council were present on the occasion.
This year, a folk sports training workshop for cultural workers was also held at the Kegalle Cultural Center yesterday under the Dolos Mahe Pahana program of the Department of Culture.
The resource persons for this were District Cultural Officer Kanchaka Wijeratne, Cultural Officer of the District Secretariat Deepani Weerasuriya, Dancer Dhammika Ranjani, Warakapola Cultural Officer Mahesh Amarakoon, Pushpa Wijethunga, Yatiyanthota Cultural Officer Kumudu Dharmaratne, Ruwanwella Cultural Officer D. V. R. Dassanayake, Mawanella Cultural Officer Kumudu Fernando, and others representing the Divisional Secretariats. This program provides an opportunity to popularize folk sports in the district.
