In line with the current government's Clean Sri Lanka concept, a community water source cleanliness program was launched recently (29) based on the Lahupana Ella or Harigala Ella located in the Lahupana Grama Seva Division, Galigamuwa. The program was held to mark the inauguration of the first phase with the aim of making this place, which is constantly attracting the attention of local tourists, a festival for foreign tourists.

This program, which was carried out with the financial contribution of the Sri Lanka Tourism Authority and under the full supervision of the Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat, was carried out with the aim of taking one step towards turning the water source around the Harigala Falls into a tourist attraction. Accordingly, the Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat and the Sri Lanka Hadabima Authority hope to carry out several environmentally friendly programs in the future. In the first phase, the officers of the Divisional Secretariat made every effort to clean the surrounding area, install billboards on environmental conservation, set up cement benches and draw pictures on them to promote environmental awareness, plant trees with ecological value, and try to create an environmentally sensitive place that is friendly to tourists.
The efforts of the officers of the Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat and the Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha to remove non-biodegradable plastic, polythene, glass bottles, beer cans, and cardboard that had been added to this water source due to the activities of non-environmentally friendly subcultural groups that arise in any social strata and destroy valuable places, and to remove invasive grass plants and clean the surrounding area are especially appreciated.
This event was attended by the Divisional Secretary of the Divisional Secretariat, Mr. Susantha Herath, the Head of the Kegalle Division of the Sri Lanka Hadabima Authority, Mr. Athula Seneviratne, Mrs. Dilini Lankadeepathi, Mr. Harsha Nuwan, officers of the Galigamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha and many officers of the Galigamuwa Divisional Secretariat.
