The progress of internal audit officers is being reviewed with the aim of improving a more efficient public service.

A meeting was held at the District Secretariat this morning (17) to review the progress of the programs carried out by the officers assigned to internal audit activities at the Divisional Secretariat level regarding the second quarter of this year.

Kegalle District Secretary Jagath Herath, while participating in the event, said that audit officers should be more careful about whether the expected goals are achieved through the development projects carried out when using the provisions allocated under each expenditure subject in providing services to the public.

The progress of providing answers to audit inquiries, voucher inspection, organizing audit and management activities at the Divisional Office level, and preparing the internal audit plan of the Divisional Secretariats were discussed here.

The Chief Internal Auditor of the District Secretariat, Mrs. Thushari Jayawardena, said that it is the responsibility of these officers to take steps to prevent an internal audit inquiry before it occurs.
