Inherited in great dance traditions, Sri Lankan dance is an art brand that has left an indelible mark on our country internationally. In order to continue it further, a district youth dance association was established to cover the entire district in an era where there is an urgent need to preserve and popularize the dance traditions of the Satara Korala of Kegalle district as well as the dance traditions of Upland, Lowland and Sabaragamuwa, and its training activities began on March 04. The day will be started at the Young Buddhist Association Hall. A special meeting was held today (17) in the morning at the district secretariat office auditorium.

Additional District Secretary (Administration) Mrs. Charitha Illangakoon, who joined the occasion, said that it is very important to protect arts, which shows the identities of the respective social divisions and cultures. A further said that she would like to express her gratitude to all those who are dedicated to the district dance squad in such a challenging time in the country.

Accordingly, in the future, contributing to all the special occasions held in the district through dance, holding dance concerts in the tourist attractions of the district including Pinnawala, conducting this training as a three-year course and at the end providing internationally recognized certificates, creating a dance purpose through dance concerts, etc. expected to be met.

The resources of expert dancers will be provided for dance mentoring to the students of this youth dance pool selected through an interview.
