The establishment of the district forum with the objective of eliminating human trafficking was done in the morning today (31) under the chairmanship of Mr. Gamalathge Dilip Nishantha, Additional District Secretary (Lands and Development).

 Fraudulent people become victims of human trafficking by falling for scams, being tricked, and preying on defenseless and innocent people with the intention of generating income or other benefits.

Mr. Chaminda Padmakumara, Project Manager of the Environment and Child Rights Protection Organization, said that the purpose of establishing this forum is to reduce exploitation in the areas of forced labor, sexual exploitation, removal of organs, domestic servitude and slavery.

The opinions and suggestions of the officials working under the Kegalle District Secretariat in the areas of social services, women's development, estate development, foreign affairs, youth services, vocational training, who are constantly dealing with the persecuted community, were presented here and the importance of using those ideas for the future activities of the forum was discussed here.

This program was organized by the Organization for the Protection of Environment and Children's Rights with the intervention of NGO Coordinator Mr. Nishantha Prematithaka.
