An awareness program was held yesterday (05) at the District Secretariat Auditorium to provide the necessary knowledge for the early detection of depression and mental disorders in school children and the treatment of depression.

Psychiatrist at Ragama Base Hospital Mr. Gayan Jayawardena, founder of SMILE Sri Lanka Foundation, contributed resources to this workshop.

For this program, 150 student counselors and teachers from schools belonging to Kegalle, Mawanella Dehiovita, regions and counseling officers from the district secretariat and divisional secretariat participated in this event.
