The Kegalle District inauguration of the Student Ambassador National Training Program on Child Safety for Senior School Leaders jointly implemented by the National Child Protection Authority and the Ministry of Education was held yesterday (01) at the St. Joseph Girls' College Auditorium.
The senior school student leaders of the schools registered for this program running all over the island will act as student ambassadors regarding child safety and the aim is to develop their knowledge, skills and attitudes about child safety and through this the initiative of the student leaders to create a child-friendly and safe environment in the school.
Through this national program implemented under five stages, communication information about the National Child Protection Authority will be displayed in schools, student ambassador blog posts will be maintained, school student ambassador workshops will be held, school child safety camps will be held, teacher and student conference workshops on child safety will be held, student ambassador will be held. It consists of many activities including creating the magazine, establishing and maintaining school child safety committees, and preparing research reports related to child safety.
The official badges and certificates were awarded to the student leaders of the schools who first registered for the student ambassador program in Kegalle district.
This program, which has many colorful features, was organized by District Child Protection Officer Vinodani Kulatunga and District Psychosocial Officer Chathurika Bandara.
On that occasion, Kegalle Additional District Secretary (Administration) K.G.S. Nishantha, Planning Director of National Child Protection Authority Shanika Malalgoda, Assistant Director (Planning) Lakshika Menikbowala, Principal of St. Joseph's Girls' College Gangani Menike Thilakarathne, District Secretariat's Children's Department officials, Child Protection Officers of the Divisional Secretariats, School Student Leaders, Leaders, Parents and others were present.
