The first district coordination committee of the year 2024 met today (05) in the morning at the district secretariat office auditorium.

First of all, the District Governor/District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe delivered the welcome speech adding congratulations for the new year and briefly reviewed the progress of the last year.

In the last few months of the last year, information was inquired about the damages caused in the respective divisional secretariats of Kegalle district and about the broken bridges, culverts and roads caused by the floods and the places inundated by rain water. Special attention was also paid to the unauthorized constructions that affected the flood situation.

Also, in this meeting, the shortage of teachers in the respective divisional secretariats, the repair of Sangili bridges, broken culverts, the construction of side walls, as well as the problems that arose during the population census, the problems related to the relief program and its current progress, and the general difficulties in the respective divisional secretariats. And the problems were also discussed.

The District Planning Department had organized this programme.

On this occasion, the co-chairperson of the District Coordination Committee, Member of Parliament Rajika Wickramasinghe, Minister of State for Technology Kanaka Herath, Minister of State for External Affairs Taraka Balasuriya, Member of Parliament Udayakantha Gunathilaka, political authority, Provincial Chief Secretary Mahinda S. Weerasuriya, Additional District Secretaries of the District Secretariat, Staff officers, regional secretaries, heads of various government institutions and departments were present.
