The Inter-Provincial Wrestling (Female/Male) Tournament held in conjunction with the 48th National Sports Festival-2024 jointly organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Department of Sports Development was successfully held on June 01 and 02 at the Kegalle Indoor Stadium.

More than three hundred and fifty athletes representing the province participated in this tournament, which was held under ten women's weight classes and ten men's weight classes.

Accordingly, the best player in this year's inter-provincial wrestling tournament (women/men) was M. Praveen who represented the Eastern Province. The best player is Nilukshi Nadisha Perera from Western Province.

This year, Western Province won 12 gold medals, 06 silver medals and 10 bronze medals as the province with the highest number of medals, while the second and third places were taken by the North-West and Central Provinces respectively.

The first, second, third and fourth place winners were awarded medals, certificates and monetary prizes.

Sabaragamuwa Province hosted the tournament this year and under the full supervision of Kegalle District Secretary / District Governor Mr. Ranjana Jayasinghe, with the full support of the two additional district secretaries, the inter-provincial wrestling (women's/men's) tournament was coordinated by Kegalle District Sports Division Project Officer W.M.A Wijesingha. 

Minister of Plantation Enterprise Reform, Minister of State for Monetary Economic Stabilization and National Policy Ranjith Siambalapitiya, Minister of State for External Affairs Taraka Balasuriya, Minister of State for Technology Kanaka Herath, Kegalle District Secretary/Diplomat Ranjana Jayasinghe, Additional District Secretary (Administration) K.G.S. Nishantha, Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha, Sri Lanka Wrestling Association President Sarath Hewawitharana, Secretary Lieutenant Commander Dhananjaya Ranasinghe, officials of the Sri Lanka Wrestling Association, officials of the Sports Development Department, officials of the District Secretariat, athletes. And a large number of people including their parents were present.
