The issuance of ballot boxes for the 2024 parliamentary election began this morning at Kegalle Balika Vidyalaya and Swarna Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya.

Accordingly, the number of registered voters to cast their votes in the Kegalle district for the 2024 parliamentary election is 709,622. Arrangements have been made to cast their votes at 577 polling stations.

In this election, which is being held for 09 constituencies in the district, 14 recognized political parties and 04 independent groups are contesting for 09 seats.

In this election, 02 counting center premises will be operated at Kegalle Balika Vidyalaya and Swarna Jayanthi Maha Vidyalaya, and there are 85 counting centers. Of these, 23 centers have been set aside for postal votes and 62 centers for counting ordinary votes.

Nearly 2,500 police and special task force officers and about 8,400 government officials will be involved in the election duties. 410 vehicles have been deployed for election duties.
