A Retrospective of Seventy Arts in Kegalle - Kala Vibhashi - 2024 Kegalle District Literary Festival was held with great pomp and show throughout the day at the Kegalle Nidahas Mawatha premises recently (24).

The first phase of the festival saw the arrival of distinguished guests led by the Dehimaduwa Saraswati Kalayathana dancers, followed by the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem, and the festivities began.

On this occasion, the Wewaladeniya Sri Mahindodiya Pirivena Viharavasi Pirivena, Venerable Asmadale Dhammarathana Thero, Venerable Thiaga Raja Kurukkal, Venerable Anton Sriyan and M.A.M. Aslam Moulawi participated in the religious rituals.

The District Literary Festival was welcomed and the objectives were explained by the District Secretary Ranjana Jayasinghe, and after singing the theme song of the District Secretariat, the Kala Vibhashi Electronic Commemorative Zone was launched on the website.

This time, in the Kala Vibhashi-2024 Literary Festival, eleven artists over the age of seventy who have dedicated their lives to the advancement of art in the district were presented with Kala Vibhashi Abhinandana Awards. In addition, eleven dancers in the district between the ages of thirty-five and forty-five were presented with awards for their service to dance.

This time, the Chief Guest of the Festival was the Honorable Chairman of the District Coordinating Committee, Minister of Environment Dr. Dhammika Patabendi, and his felicitations were added to the occasion.

Certificates and prizes were awarded to the winners of the regional level and district literary competitions under several stages, and a musical entertainment program was also presented by the team including veteran lyricist Dr. Rathna Sri Wijesinghe.

The main sponsor of this year's Kala Vibhashi District Literary Festival, which consisted of a variety of colorful dances and musical performances, was Saubhagya Cooperative Bank. The Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council, Athukorala Group Business, Sri Latha Jewellery, Seevali Poththala, Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank, Island Dairies Private Limited, and the Red Cross Organization were also other sponsors.

The District Cultural Officer, Mrs. Kanchana Wijayaratne, along with the Cultural Officers of the Divisional Secretariats, and all the officers of the District Secretariat, together with the officers of the Divisional Secretariats, had organized this year's District Literature Festival.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by the Hon. Member of Parliament for Kegalle District, Sagarika Gangani Athauda, ​​Additional District Secretary (Administration) K. G. S. Nishantha, Additional District Secretary (Lands) Dilip Nishantha, staff officers, Kegalle Warakapola and Aranayake Divisional Secretaries, General Manager of Saubhagya Cooperative Bank, Mr. Dhammika Nuwan Yasathilaka, the Honorable Chairman, and heads of departments and institutions in the district, government officials, awardees and parents.
