Training program of development officers on identification and management of mental illnesses in the community

Death cannot be prevented. But suicide is preventable. Why suicide is done? Any reason for suicide can be affected. Mental causes such as depression, arthritis, personality disorders, alcohol and drug use, depressive mental causes can be affected. Even though such reasons are behind suicide, we have to do to avoid a deliberate action by preparing plans for a long time knowing that death will be dying aimed at death. Also for some other reason a person will initiate suicide due to depression or unbearable mental stress. His or her broken mind needs to be treated to prevent this situation. Counseling is very important for that. Such mental illnesses ending from death are not detected or not properly treated, or the patient's life ended by regular suicide.

Due to mental illness is a less and more incident in many countries in the world. No country in the world can take the value of suicide to zero. If it could, it would be a world record that joins the dream book. It was in 1995 that the eyes of the responsible for the suicide in Sri Lanka started opening. When Sri Lanka won the World Cup in 1996 and set the world record, Sri Lanka set a world record in the second place in suicide from all countries in the world in the previous year. That's 100000 : 47 ratio. Sri Lanka is having a difficult situation to reduce its percentage of suicide and is currently trying to gradually reach a lower rate. Government expects to take a rate below 100000 : 11.6 by 2030 to further reduce this situation.
