Let's work to reduce the impact of climate change. Many programs are running across the country from May 30th to June 05th, initiating the theme given by Jagat Environment.
The Kegalle district program started today (04) morning with a walk from Yatiyanthota Sirivarthana Maha Vidyalaya to Yatiyanthota Buddhist Mandir. It was conducted in the presence of the District Political Authority, Kegalle District Secretary and State officials, school students and volunteer organizations representatives. There school students also distributed hand-offs to aware the people of the city.
The second phase of the program was implemented at the Yatiyanthota Buddhist House. There Environmental pilots were awarded gold medals and certificates for a photograph of a drawing competition in the beginning of Environment Day.
Street drama team of Bulathkohupitiya Divisional Secretariat organized an awareness about the damage caused to the environment due to the lack of proper waste management.
The program was organized by the initiative of Central Environment Authority Kegalle District Office and with the support of its concerned institutions.
For this occasion, Mr. Nandana Millagala, Mr. Yatiyanthota Pradeshiya Sabha President Mr. Tharidu Dewanagala and the political authority, Kegalle District Secretary. G. Mr. S. Nishantha, Yatiyanthota Divisional Secretary Mrs. Anoma Dissanayake, Director General of Environment Authority, officers of Kegalle District Central Environment Authority Office, school students, teachers, parents, civil organization representatives etc gathered together.
